Tuesday, 28 March 2023 – CONFERENCE Places of memory of the two Seats 1870+1871 – Guide of the City of Paris

Tuesday 28 March, 2.30 pm
Mairie du XVIème
71 avenue Henri Martin, 75016 Paris

As part of the Mardis de la Mémoire organised by the Mairie du XVIème, you will find attached the invitation to the conference given by Jean-François Decraene with the support of the Souvenir Français, about his book “Lieux de mémoire des deux Sièges 1870 + 1871 : Guide de la Ville de Paris”.

This guide to the places of memory of the Siege of Paris (1870-1871) in the Île-de-France region (Paris) is a present-day response to a forgotten past. It is based on the heritage born of this conflict, rich in monuments, steles, plaques, cemeteries and graves, and helps to understand the intensity of the Franco-German opposition, marked by three wars between 1870 and 1945. On the other hand, it highlights the importance of the Franco-German couple, the founder of European construction and the seventy-five years of peace since 1945.
