Tuesday, 14 February 2023 – CONFERENCE De Gaulle and Russia

Tuesday 14 February, 2.30 pm

Mairie du XVIème

71 avenue Henri Martin, 75016 Paris

As part of the Mardis de la Mémoire organised by the Mairie du XVIème, you will find enclosed the invitation to the conference given by Alexandre Jevakhoff, on his book “De Gaulle and Russia”.

The special relationship between de Gaulle and Russia is like a mirror in which the General’s personality and his relationship with History are revealed. Alexandre Jevakhoff skillfully reviews the history of this intense relationship which largely conditioned the diplomatic history of the years 1940-197, on the basis of unpublished sources (correspondence with Admiral de Gaulle, interviews with President Giscard d’Estaing, declassified Soviet and intelligence service archives).

Alexandre Jevakhoff, a graduate of HEC and IEP Paris, and a former student of ENA, began his career in 1981 as a finance inspector. In 1990, he was General Secretary of TF1 Entreprises and in 1993 Director of Programming, Financial and Real Estate Affairs at the Ministry of the Interior, then adviser to Michèle Alliot-Marie, at the Ministry of Defence. He is the author of several reference works on the subject of contemporary Turkey.
